Although the name "picosecond" lasers imply that they use extremely short pulses, in reality, many picosecond lasers do not achieve true picosecond speeds.

1. Pulse duration
Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser: The pulse duration is nanoseconds (1 nanosecond is one billionth of a second), suitable for a variety of pigment treatments.
Picosecond laser: With a pulse duration of picoseconds (1 picosecond is one trillionth of a second), it can provide shorter and more intense energy bursts, making treatment faster and more precise.
2. Treatment time
Picosecond laser: Due to the shorter pulse duration, treatment can usually be completed in fewer treatments with significant results.
Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser: More treatments may be required to achieve the same effect, and the treatment cycle is relatively long.
3. Wavelength and ink color
Research has shown that different wavelengths and power levels can be used for laser tattoo removal for different ink colors. For example:
Q-Switched Laser: Uses 532nm wavelength to effectively target red, orange and violet inks.
Picosecond laser: Using 1064nm wavelength is more suitable for removing black, blue and green inks.
In theory, Picosecond laser is a better technology than Q switch ND YAG LASER because its emission time is only 1/100 of Q switch, and it stays on the skin for a shorter time, making it more comfortable and painless. However, Q switch ND YAG LASER is also widely applicable and more cost-effective. Both methods are acceptable, and the specific choice depends on personal needs.
