Skin Care Before And After Co2 Laser Treatment

Fractional CO2 lasers are lasers made exclusively of carbon dioxide. Is a non-invasive procedure that removes the outer layer of damaged skin. A skin treatment used to reduce acne scars, deep wrinkles, and other skin irregularities. Fractional CO2 lasers are commonly used to treat acne scars, as well as various other skin concerns such as age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sagging skin, warts, etc.


The following information will help you care for your skin before and after fractionated carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment.


Skin Care Before Co2 Laser Treatment


(1) Avoid tanning or strong sunlight for two weeks before treatment. Use sunscreen daily for 4 weeks before treatment.

(2) Do not use drugs that cause sun sensitivity (such as doxycycline or minocycline) for at least 3 days before treatment.

(3) Eat and drink before surgery to prevent dehydration.

(4) Do not use products containing retinoids.

(5) Stop taking drugs such as ibuprofen, aspirin, and even vitamin E, because this can cause blood clotting time to prolong.


Skin Care After Co2 Laser Treatment


(1) After CO2 laser treatment, it usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks for your skin to heal. Your skin will be very sensitive during this time.

(2) After finishing the CO2 laser treatment, put the ice pack on the treated area for 15 minutes. This will help reduce swelling and make you feel more comfortable.

(3) Before you leave, your nurse will cover the treated area with an antiseptic cream such as petroleum jelly (Vaseline®) or mupirocin (Bactroban®) and a bandage.
